As the Director of Nursing and Quality, Erik leads Optimal Care’s clinical team. He is responsible for overseeing clinical care and quality outcomes for patients as well as implementation of evidence-based care guidelines in the home setting. Prior to joining Optimal Care in 2011, Erik worked in emergency, psychiatric, and home care nursing.

He holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in nursing from the University of Michigan, where he focused on quality and patient safety outcomes. Erik is a board-certified Nurse Executive-Advanced and holds additional certifications in health care quality (CPHQ), wound care (WCC), and infection control (CIC). He has presented on important health care topics including successful community care transitions, medication management in the home setting, infection prevention and control, and building and evaluating quality assurance and performance improvement programs.

Erik serves on the education committee of the National Association for Home Care and Hospice and holds current memberships with the Michigan Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, the National Association of Healthcare Quality, and the National Association for Home Care & Hospice.
